Very kind and simple book. Just right for kids to learn how to love each other, take care of one in trouble. Dislike something that is bad and do something about it.
Just a great story about a boy and his pelicans and how the came to be and the relationship they made with each other.
My eleven year old boy loved this book! He's a weak reader, but managed this simple text. The plot is simple and heartfelt! It's real, and hits he humane spot in all of us. It's short and powerfully simple. The while family loved it!
'Storm Boy' belongs in the canon of Australian Children's Literature of the twentieth century. It is a dramatic and emotionally integrated story which also captures the sense of place and time. This edition is well produced and beautifully illustrated by Ingpen.
This classic Australian Colin Thiele children's novel is as wonderful as I remembered from years ago. I believe it is a truly heartwarming, but honest story, perfect for young readers wanting to progress into more meaningful chapter books. It provides plenty of discussion/thinking points with the different ways in which the animals (birds) are viewed and treated by the different people. It also lets children know what real life is like - death happens to those we love, and growing up is part of coming to understand that.
